Setting – Prayer for Revival and renewal following a great catastrophe – RETURN from BAB CAPTIVITY
READ Psalm 85
I. Praise for God’s Discipline. 85:1-3
A. GOD DID THIS. B. Six things
1. Showed favor
2. Restored the fortunes of Jacob
3. Forgave the iniquity of your people. Heb anown.
4. Covered their sins. Covered as with a garment.
5. Set aside your wrath
6. Turned from your fierce anger
C. As they returned from captivity they thanked God for what He had done.
II. Prayer for Renewed Devotion. 85:4-7
A. They returned with EXCITEMENT, then DISAPPOINTMENT, then the
REALITY of what was ahead. HAGG. 1:9-15.
B. God sent them a prophet.
C. Where do we need revival?
