Christ is Seen throughout the Psalm
• Patience. V. 1 Christ is patient with us.
 He endured suffering (Heb 12:2 “Let us set our eyes on Jesus, the author. . .who
for the joy . . .”
 “when he suffered he made no threats” 1 Peter 2:23
• He lifted me out of the slimy pit. Jesus was lifted up.
 slimy pit – no footing.
 a picture of death
 Eph 4:9 “He that ascended is he that descended. . .”
 Phil 2:7 “he made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.”
 God lifted Jesus. Did not allow his servant to see corruption. Acts 13:34-38
 (Philippians 2:9, NIV) "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,"
 (Acts 2:23-24, NIV) "This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony
of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him."

 DAVID obedient.
 JESUS obedient.
• 40:11-17. TRIALS. God’s Continued deliverance.
• What does this mean for me?
 DAVID could trust in the LORD. God did not fail DAVID.
• David is an EXAMPLE.
• We can READ of David’s Victory.
 JESUS could trust in the LORD. God did not fail JESUS.
• Jesus ABIDES WITHIN.
• We SHARE in Jesus’ Victory
• Rom 8:9-11
• Rom 6:4-7
• (Colossians 1:27, NIV) "To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."
• (Galatians 2:20, NIV) "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
