A Psalm for Godly Living During Troublesome Times

I. My PRAYER During Times of Trouble. 141:1-2
A. (2 Chron 6:19-20) "Yet give attention to your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy, O Lord my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence. May your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name there. May you hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place."

II. My PURITY During Times of Trouble. 141:3-4
A. Purity over my WORDS.

(Psalm 19:14) "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer."

B. Purity over my WAY: (actions)
1. That I not be drawn away in the “day of evil”

(Ephesians 6:13) "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."

I am not afraid of EVIL DOERS (141:6)

1. Even though they have laid a SNARE for me.
2. How do we RESPOND to evil?
a. The NEW WAY of Jesus. Matt 5:38-42 b. Bear reproach for Christ. 1 Peter 2:19-23 c. Pray for your enemies.
d. Confront EVIL when it is in the CHURCH. e. Pray that the LORD will expose evildoers.
f. Allow the Lord to be your defender
g. Do not take vengeance. (Romans 12:19) "Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord."
h. Our concern is GOD’S WORK….
IV. My PROTECTOR in Times of Trouble. 141:8 “my eyes are fixed on you”
