The Psalm of a Thankful Worshiper
One of eight final Psalms of David
Follows Psalm 137 (dark, despair, no song)
I. A Worshipers Praise. 138:1-3
A. Praise God with INTENSITY. 138:1
1. David worshiped without reservation. “all my heart”
2. David worshiped without intimidation. “Before the gods” (possibly a
reference to leaders, kings.

B. Praise God with REFLECTION. 138:2
David’s worship was theological and emotional
1. Two attributes of God: Love and faithfulness
2. Two actions of God. God reveals himself
a. His exalted NAME (Jesus, the LIVING LOGOS – Revelation
19:13 "He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the
Word of God."
b. His infallible WORD (the BIBLE, the WRITTEN LOGOS – 1
Peter 1:23 "For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God."
C. Praise God with a TESTIMONY. 138:3

A. My Worship is because of God’s GRACE, not my goodness. 138:6
