PSALM 19

Observation – David examines God’s WORLD and God’s WORD

A PSALM for the WILDERNESS!
I. God revealed in His WORLD
A. Name of God is ELOHIM – creator. 19:1
B. Celestial heavens.
1. Witness to God’s power
2. Man is without excuse. Romans 1:20
3. Universal appeal
C. Nature reveals ELOHIM.
1. By examining NATURE you should know that there is a GOD
2. Nature speaks WITHOUT LANGUAGE! (19:3)
3. But you cannot KNOW GOD through nature!
4. Psalm 19:7 “The Law of the LORD” (YHWH)
5. You can only come to a personal relationship with YHWH through the
WORD.
a. Illus – APPALACHIAN TRAIL – The difference between
WONDER and WORSHIP
b. The NATURE LOVER is no closer to YHWH than the TOXIC WASTE POLLUTER!
c. Nature can show you there is a GOD but only the WORD of God
can show you who He is and how you can be saved! Acts 17:23-31
II. God Revealed in His WORD DESCRIPTION – ATTRIBUTE – RESULT
6 statements – “of the LORD.” This is the LORD’s WORD
A. Scripture is PERFECT.
1. Complete. Lacking nothing.
2. “Reviving the soul” – SALVATION. Giving life. B. Scripture is TRUSTWORTHY.
1. KJV = “sure”
2. Giving wisdom to the SIMPLE.
C. Scripture is RIGHT.
1. We have JOY
2. Knowing God through His word brings JOY. When we know what is
RIGHT we will make RIGHT decisions. D. Scripture is RADIANT. (KJV = “pure” )
1. We have light.
2. We can see!
3. No doubts about what is right and wrong
4. 2 Tim 3:16 “all scripture. . .”
E. Scripture is PURE
1. God’s word ENDURES.

III. The Response of the SEEKER?
A. WARNING. By THEM (the WORD)
1. WE SHOULD SEEK THE WORD, Not the WORLD
